Police responded to the report of a dog at large in the 00 block of North West Fifth Street. The owner arrived and retrieved the dog.

Police responded to a loud noise complaint in the 100 block of North East Ninth Street.

Jan. 2:

Police assisted the Henry County Sheriff’s Office with a vehicle search during a traffic stop west of town on Route 34.

Police responded to a report of a possible prowler in the 100 block of North Center Avenue.

Police responded to a request to remove a dead deer from the roadway on Route 34 west of Galva.

Police checked on an unoccupied vehicle with illuminated interior lights on Wallace Street.

Jan. 3

Police assisted a subject who had lost his wallet on the 500 block of South East Second Street.

Police were called to recover a possible illegal substance left behind by a previous tenant in the 00 block of North West Fourth Avenue.

Police responded to a 9-1-1 hang-up call that was found to be a misdial in the 200 block of South West Sixth Avenue.

Jan. 4:

Police responded to a complaint of the theft of two diamond rings that were later found inside the residence on the 100 block of North East Sixth Street.

Police responded to a complaint of a prowler in the 500 block of North West Firth Street.

Patrick Hammons, 67, Galva, was cited for operating a vehicle with suspended registration for no insurance following a traffic stop in the 500 block of South East Second Street. He was released with a court date.

Police were contacted by a subject who wanted to retrieve items from an impounded vehicle.

Jan. 5:

Police assisted the ambulance with a medical emergency on South West Sixth Street.

Police responded to a complaint of a residential burglary in the 1000 block of North West Fifth Street.

Police responded to a slow-moving vehicle inspection in the 400 block of South West Third Street.

Police responded to a disabled vehicle complaint in the 100 block of North East Third Street.

Everett VanStaden, 46, Neponset, was issued citations for having expired registration and operating an uninsured vehicle in the 00 block of Morgan Road.

Jan. 6:

Police responded to a dog bite complaint in the 500 block of North West Third Avenue. The dog was impounded at the Henry County Animal Shelter.

An unknown alarm was reported in the 500 block of South West Fourth Street. It was later determined to be a faulty smoke detector on the resident’s porch.

Police responded to a reckless driving complaint on the east edge of Galva.

Billie Powell, 42, Galva, was cited for operating a vehicle with suspended registration for no insurance as the result of a traffic stop in the 00 block of North East Second Avenue.

Police, along with the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, responded to a request to remove an unwanted subject in the 300 block of Front Street. The subject had left the area and was later arrested by HCSO for DUI – alcohol.

Aaron Cate, 40, Monmouth, was issued citations for failure to secure new registration after transfer of ownership of a vehicle and having expired registration in the 200 block of South East Second Street.

Preston Yoder, 19, Granger, Ind., was issued a citation for speeding in the 1100 block of South East Second Street.

Jan. 7:

Police responded to a report of a motorist slumped over the wheel in the 100 block of Market Street. Stark County Medic also responded and determined it was a medical issue.

Brandon Dillon, 26, Galva, was arrested for driving while license suspended, improper use of registration and operating an uninsured vehicle following a traffic stop in the 00 block of South East Second Street. He was taken to the Galva Police Department for processing and later released with a court date.

Police responded to a complaint of a dog at large in the 700 block of South East First.

Michael Duytschaver, 22, Kewanee, was issued a citation for a tinted windshield following a traffic stop in the 1000 block of South East Second Street.
