Police responded to a 9-1-1 hang-up complaint in the 1000 block of SW 2nd Street. Upon investigation, it was determined to be a complaint involving a boyfriend who was suicidal. The suspect was located in Bureau County in Mineral, Ill.

Police responded to a suspicious vehicle complaint in the 300 block of SW 5th Avenue. The officer located the vehicle but had no probable cause for a traffic stop.

Police met with seven subjects who were applying for a solicitor’s permit at City Hall. The permit was issued.

Police warned a resident about a city ordinance violation involving junk in the yard in the 700 block of NW 1st Avenue.

Police responded to a 9-1-1 hang-up complaint in the 100 block of SW 5th Street. It was determined to be an accidental misdial.

Police responded to a report of a loose dog that was brought into Stevens Veterinary Clinic. Employees recognized the dog, and it was returned to its owner.

Police delivered a message for Knox County about a disabled vehicle near Abingdon to the 1200 block of NW 3rd Avenue.

Melody Guynn, 52, Galva, was issued a citation for having expired registration in the 100 block of South Center Avenue.

Feb. 4:

Police responded to a scam complaint in the 300 block of NE 2nd Street.

Police responded to a complaint of telephone harassment/threats in the 600 block of NW 5th Street.

Feb. 5:

Scott Fann, 36, Kewanee, was arrested for driving while his license was suspended, operating a vehicle when registration was suspended for mandatory insurance, and operating an uninsured vehicle following a traffic stop in the 600 block of SE 2nd Street. He was released with a required court date.

Police responded to a loose dog complaint in the 100 block of South Center Avenue. The officer was not able to locate the animal.

Police responded to a report of an injured dog in the 00 block of SE 4th Street. A loose dog was struck by a passing vehicle on South Center Avenue. The officer contacted the owner and assisted them with loading the dog to take to the veterinarian clinic.

Police removed an unwanted subject in the 00 block of NE 4th Avenue.

Police discovered a subject sitting on the ground while patrolling in the 500 block of SE 2nd Street. The subject was entered into NCIC as a missing and endangered person. They were transported by ambulance for treatment/evaluation.

Billy Hammond, 39, Galva, was issued a citation for operating a vehicle with no registration in the 400 block of NE 1st Street.

Feb.6:

Police responded to a single-vehicle accident with damage only at the intersection of SW 2nd Street and SW 2nd Avenue. A crash report was completed.

Police checked the welfare of a motorist parked in the 00 block of SE 1st Street. The driver advised that they were OK.

Police responded to a 9-1-1 open line complaint in the 500 block of SW 7th Street t. It was determined to be a misdial.

Police assisted a motorist who had locked keys inside a car in the 300 block of SE 3rd Street. They were referred to Tarleton’s for assistance.

Police responded to a 9-1-1 rapid SOS call in the 1000 block of SW 2nd Street. It was determined to be a medical call.

Feb. 7:

Police attempted to assist a subject having a mental health crisis in the 700 block of NW 4th Street.

Police saw that a train had stopped and blocked all Galva crossings while patrolling. BNSF was contacted and the train eventually moved along.

Police responded to a complaint involving several suspicious people in the 00 block of SW 4th Street. They were determined to be solicitors who had a valid permit.

Feb. 8:

Police responded to a verbal domestic disturbance in the 400 block of SE 7th Avenue.

Police assisted a motorist who locked their keys inside the car in the 500 block of SE 2nd Street. Henry County was able to unlock it.

Feb. 9:

Police assisted a motorist after a vehicle became disabled on Route 34 and 1850 East. The officer gave the subject a ride to his residence.

Police responded to a gas drive-off complaint in the 00 block of SW 2nd Street. The suspect returned and paid for the fuel.

Police met with a resident at the Galva Police Department to talk about a written trespassing notice.

Police responded to a complaint of a reckless driver coming from the Altona area at the west edge of town. The officer was not able to locate the suspect vehicle.

Police responded to a domestic disturbance involving juveniles in the 800 block of NE 3rd Street.

Police noticed a vehicle door open in the 500 block of NW 3rd Avenue while out patrolling. The officer spoke to the owner, who forgot to shut the door. Nothing was taken.
