Feb. 10:

Police assisted a subject who appeared to be suffering from a mental health crisis in the 700 block of NW 4th Street.

Police responded to a report about a crossbow bolt found stuck in the yard in the 700 block of NE 2nd Street. It was later determined to have come from a neighbor’s property. The officer went to a residence in the 100 block of NE 6th Avenue and seized the crossbow that was used in this incident.

Feb. 11:

Police responded to a 9-1-1 hang-up call in the 1100 block of SE 2nd Street. The officer determined it was a medical emergency involving a subject with electrical burns. Stark County Medic was dispatched and transported the subject for evaluation/treatment.

Police watched for a reckless driver who was reported to be on the west edge of town on Route 34, coming from Altona. The officer located the suspect vehicle but did not find any reason for a traffic stop.

Police and fire departments responded to a report of a strong smoke odor in the 00 block of SW 4th Street. The officer noticed a neighbor burning leaves and the smoke was blowing directly to the building. The fire department could not locate anything other than the smell from the burning leaves.

Gregory Dekle, 39, Kirkwood, was cited for operating a vehicle when registration was suspended for mandatory insurance and operating an uninsured vehicle following a traffic stop in the 500 block of SE 2nd Street. He was released with a required court date.

Police responded to a suspicious vehicle/parking complaint in the 300 block of NE 2nd Street. The subject was visiting a neighbor.

Police responded to a 9-1-1 misdial complaint in the 00 block of NW 4th Street. It was determined to be an accidental dial.

Police were notified about a vehicle repossession that was taking place in the 300 block of NE 1st Street. The vehicle was removed without incident.

Feb. 12:

Schlaan Murray, 18, Kewanee, was issued citations for failing to reduce speed to avoid an accident and driving too fast for conditions after police, Stark County Medic, and the fire department responded to an accident involving a vehicle striking a house in the 500 block of South Center Avenue. Minor injuries were reported. The car appeared to be totaled. A crash report was completed.

Police saw that the crossing arms were down and activated with no trains present at the Exchange Street crossing. BNSF was contacted for repairs.

Police responded to a loose dog complaint in the 1000 block of SW 2nd Street. The officer was not able to locate the animal.

Brett Harlan, 40, Galva, was arrested on two Knox County warrants for failing to appear on the charges of possession of methamphetamine and criminal trespass to a building after police were called to assist a citizen in the 600 block of NW 7th Avenue. Knox County requested that he be released with a new court date.

Police responded to a cat bite complaint in the 100 block of NW 2nd Street. The cat owner suffered a minor bite mark on her hand.

Feb. 13:

Police performed a civil standby to exchange property in the 200 block of NE 4th Street.

Police responded to a hit-and-run accident with minor vehicle damage in the 300 block of NW 2nd Street. Both parties were located, and a crash report was completed.

Hunter Brill, 26, Galesburg, was cited for operating a vehicle when registration was suspended for mandatory insurance, operating an uninsured vehicle, and having expired registration following a traffic stop in the 500 block of SE 2nd Street. He was released with a required court date.

Michael Thuline, 56, Galva, was arrested on a Henry County warrant for failing to appear on the charges of aggravated battery to a police officer, three counts of resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct after police attempted to locate a wanted subject in the 1000 block of SE 2nd Street. He was taken to Henry County Jail.

Police assisted a motorist who was low on fuel after business hours in the 00 block of SW 2nd Street. They were given directions to the Fast Stop on SE 2nd Street.

Roger Hochstetler, 43, Galva, was issued citations for having expired registration and operating an uninsured vehicle.

Feb. 14:

Police attempted to assist a subject having a mental health crisis in the 700 block of NW 4th Street.

Police conducted a welfare check in the 300 block of Front Street. The officer was not able to make contact with the subject.

Feb. 15:

Police responded to a 9-1-1 hang-up in the 500 block of SW 3rd Street. It was determined to be a misdial.

Police assisted a citizen in the 800 block of NE 2nd Avenue.

Police updated a sex offender’s annual registration at the Galva Police Department. A copy was emailed to Henry County for the LEADS entry.

Police responded to a crossing arm malfunction at the SW 6th Avenue railroad crossing. BNSF was contacted for repairs.

Police conducted a welfare check at a residence on NE 2nd Avenue. The subject was fine.

Police responded to a domestic disturbance involving an out-of-control juvenile in the 200 block of NW 2nd Avenue.

Feb. 16:

Police checked on an occupied vehicle during the night in the 300 block of SW 3rd Street. The subject was waiting for someone else.

Police were flagged down by a resident in the 200 block of North Exchange Street.

Police responded to a parking complaint involving a semi parked without its lights on in the 700 block of West Division Street. The driver was advised to move elsewhere.

Mika Miller, 38, Kewanee, was issued a citation for having expired registration in the 100 block of SE 2nd Street.

Garrett Pistole, 24, Walnut, was issued a citation for speeding in the 1000 block of North Center Avenue.
