Police contacted BSNF after seeing the NE 2nd Street railroad crossing arms going up and down and being activated with no trains present.

Police responded to a civil property dispute in the 100 block of East Division Street.

Dec. 30:

Police responded to a 9-1-1 hang up complaint in the 200 block of South Exchange Street. It was determined to be a misdial.

Police were called to investigate an open door at a residence in the 00 block of NW 4th Street. The officer and a family member were unable to locate anything that was missing. The door was secured.

Blake Frampton, 32, Murray, Ky., was cited for operating a vehicle when registration was suspended for mandatory insurance and operating an uninsured vehicle following a traffic stop in the 600 block of SE 2nd Street. He was released with a required court date.

Police responded to an ongoing issue with loose dogs in the 600 block of SW 2nd Avenue. The dog owner was spoken to and advised of the Illinois leash law.

Police provided a resident with a Freedom of Information Act request form at the Galva Police Department.

Mandy Pratt, 45, Galva, was arrested for aggravated domestic battery, domestic battery and battery after police responded to a physical domestic disturbance in the 00 block of SW 4th Street. She was taken to Henry County Jail.

Dec. 31:

Police assisted Henry County with a single vehicle rollover accident on Route 34 near Midland Road.

Police met with a resident at the Galva Police Department to inform them of suicidal comments their juvenile child had reportedly posted on social media. The parent agreed to handle the situation without further police involvement.

Police spoke with a resident about trash that had blown into several neighboring yards during trash collection day in the 200 block of NW 7th Avenue.

Police checked the railroad tracks in town after information was received about a juvenile making suicidal threats on social media. The juvenile was located in the downtown area and turned over to a parent.

Police conducted a civil standby to retrieve property in the 00 block of SW 4th Street.

Jan. 1:

Police conducted a welfare check at a residence on NW 5th Avenue. The subject was fine.

An animal at large was reported in the 100 block of NW 5th Street.

The owner took the dog back home before the police arrived.

Police responded to a dog bite complaint in the 700 block of NW 1st Avenue. The animal owner was the victim, and the dog was current on all its shots.

Police removed an unwanted subject at a residence on SW 7th Street.

William Barnes, 41, Galva, was cited for operating a vehicle when registration was suspended for mandatory insurance and operating an uninsured vehicle following a traffic stop in the 500 block of SE 2nd Street. He was released with a required court date.

Police located an abandoned vehicle while patrolling in the 300 block of SE 2nd Street. It was tagged with a 72-hour tow away notice.

Police spoke to a subject by telephone about a civil property dispute.

Police responded to a 9-1-1 open line call in the 300 block of Market Street. It was determined to be a medical emergency. Stark County Medic was dispatched to respond.

Police responded to a deceptive practices/fraud complaint in the 900 block of SE 2nd Street.

Police responded to a loud music complaint in the 500 block of SW 4th Street.

Jan. 2:

Police responded to a barking dog complaint in the 300 block of Swank Street. The complaint was unfounded.

Police met with a resident at the Galva Police Department to update their annual sex offender registration. A completed form was sent to Henry County for LEADS entry.

Police were present for a child custody exchange in the 500 block of SE 2nd Street.

Police responded to a civil matter/home repair fraud complaint in the 800 block of NE 2nd Street.

Jan. 3:

Police responded to a sick/injured wild animal complaint involving a raccoon in the 300 block of NE 5th Street.

Police located a disabled vehicle while patrolling near SE 2nd Street and Industrial Avenue.

A 16-year-old Kewanee resident was issued a citation for speeding in the 1000 block of SE 2nd Street.

Jan. 4:

Police spoke to a resident by telephone about a trespassing complaint in the 00 block of SW 4th Street.

Police had an abandoned vehicle removed from the 300 block of SE 2nd Street that had previously been tagged for removal.

Police, along with Stark County Medic, were dispatched to a medical emergency in the 400 block of NW 11th Street. There were no signs of life, and the coroner was contacted to respond.
