GALVA — An investigation involving a number of law-enforcement agencies led to the arrest of a Galva man on nine counts of possession of child sexual abuse material.

Mason J. Cavanagh, 31, of Galva, was arrested after a search warrant was executed at Cavanagh’s home in the 200 block of SW Sixth St. Each count is a Class 2 felony.

A news release issued by Galva Police Chief Kraig R. Townsend said Galva police received information regarding suspected criminal activity and began an investigation that ultimately led to the execution of a search warrant on Wednesday.

As the investigation progressed, Galva police requested assistance from the Kewanee Police Department, Henry County Sheriff’s Office, Henry County State’s Attorney’s Office, Moline Police Department, Homeland Security Investigations, the Illinois Attorney General’s Office Division of Forensics and the Illinois Attorney General’s Office Investigations Division.

This investigation remains active, Townsend reported, and additional charges are expected pending review of this investigation by the Henry County State’s Attorney’s Office.
