Galva will hold a second cleanup week, beginning Sept. 24-27, for Galva residents only. Proof of residency will be required

All residents are asked to bring items to Galva’s Maintenance Yard (use the driveway between the former Preferred Home Health Care building and the former Mary’s Family Dining and Lounge) to be placed in a roll-off dumpster.

Anyone who is disabled, elderly or unable to take their items to the maintenance yard can call City Hall, and someone will assist them with scheduling a pickup. You must call City Hall at 309-932-2555 before Sept. 24 to schedule a pickup, as items will not be picked up if they are not scheduled.

Residents are asked to only call for pickups if needed since staff are limited. Assistance will only be available on Wednesday, Sept. 24. City staff will only come to a residence once for pickup, and items must be on the curb; no backyard or structure pickups are allowed.

Items not accepted include shingles, antifreeze, LP tanks, yard waste, paint and any other hazardous materials. Tires will be accepted for a fee depending on their size.

Televisions and electronic components will be accepted for a fee at Eagle Enterprises during their normal business hours. Their number is 309-932-2936 if anyone has questions.

The maintenance yard will be open extended hours on Sept. 24 and Sept. 25 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. to allow a better response to cleanup.

On Sept. 26, the yard will be open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., and on Sept. 27, the yard will be open from 7 a.m. to noon.

For questions, please call City Hall 309-932-2555 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
