Get ready to experience Celtic folk with a daring twist as Gadan brings its electrifying “Celtgrass” sound to Ca d’Zan House Concerts on Thursday, Aug. 21.

Gadan is nothing short of a string-fueled spectacle. The Italian-born powerhouse blends the drive of Irish traditional music and bluegrass with the heart of Appalachian folk, all seasoned with unmistakable Italian flair.

Formed in 2024, the band reunited three masterful musicians from Italy’s folk scene with Enda Scahill—tenor banjo virtuoso and founder of We Banjo 3—and, in 2025, added Eric Long, a Pennsylvania-born clawhammer banjoist now based in San Francisco, enriching the band’s transatlantic sound.

Gadan’s arsenal includes three banjos – tenor and clawhammer, fiddle, mandolin, bouzouki, and guitar, crafting a mesmerizing, strings-only experience—no drums required. Their performances are a masterclass in rhythmic intensity and musical synergy.

Critics and audiences alike have praised their live shows for an energy that rivals top-tier contemporary Celtic acts like Talisk, We Banjo 3, and The East Pointers—yet Gadan remains entirely unique.

With five U.S. tours under their belt already, Gadan has rocked folk venues and Celtic festivals coast to coast—and now they’re bringing the heat straight to Cambridge.

Whether you’re a Celtic music fan or looking for an unforgettable summer evening, Gadan promises a dynamic, foot-stomping performance that defies genre and unites string music lovers of all kinds. Join us for a night of unmatched energy, culture, and community.

The evening begins with a potluck and social hour from 6 –7 p.m., followed by music that’s bound to ignite the night at 7 p.m.

This all-ages, outdoor event invites you to relax on the lawn—don’t forget to bring your lawn chair or blanket. A suggested donation of $20–$30 will help support the artists.
