The arrest of a Wyoming man on a warrant Tuesday afternoon led to a brief closing of Visitation and Irving schools, according to local police.

Police Chief Stephen Kijanowski said Andrew J. Eagelston, 20, of Wyoming was arrested by Kewanee police on a Bureau County warrant. The schools were closed for about 10 minutes as a precaution, he said.

Andrew J. Eagelston, 20, was arrested by the KPD and U.S. Marshalls task force on Tuesday.

“It was kind of a last-minute operation,” the chief said.

Kijanowski said police assisted the U.S. Marshalls Fugitive Task Force in the operation.

The task force tracks people wanted on warrants, including those issued by state and county courts, the chief said.

The warrant on which Eagelston was arrested was out of Bureau County for charges of armed robbery, aggravated vehicle hijack and aggravated kidnapping.

Kijanowski said Eagelston was named in warrants out of Peoria, but that those warrants were “not extraditable.”
