The vehicle involved in a Monday evening single car crash.

A single car vehicle crash that occurred Monday evening in the 6000 block of East 2480th Street in rural Kewanee sent four teens to the hospital.

According to information released from the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to the area at 7:42 p.m. for a report of a single vehicle crash.

The Henry County Sheriff’s Office and emergency first responders arrived on the scene of a one car accident Monday night in rural Kewanee.

The vehicle, according to the release, was occupied by four juveniles. Medical personnel transported all of the juveniles to the hospital for treatment.

One teen, however, was flown via helicopter to a trauma center for extended medical care.

According to one person on the scene, the vehicle appeared to have hit a power pole before crashing into a parked semi-truck, but police haven’t officially released any details on how the accident occurred.

The driver of the vehicle was issued citations for improper lane usage and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

The accident remains under investigation by the HCSO in conjunction with the Illinois State Police Crash Reconstruction Unit.
