One person is dead, and another was injured in a shooting incident in rural Cambridge Friday, according to the Henry County Sheriff’s Department.

According to a news release from the HCSO, upon arrival on scene sheriff’s deputies found a 26-year-old male and a 21-year-old female at the residence, both with apparent gunshot wounds. Deputies immediately began life saving measures. 

Cambridge Ambulance, MedForce, Coal Valley and Osco Emergency Services arrived on scene to assist with life saving measures. The two victims were transported to area hospitals for treatment. The man later died from his injuries. The 21-year-old female is currently in stable condition. 

The Rock Island County Coroner’s Office is assisting with this incident. According to the news release,  this appears to be an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public. 

The names of the parties involved are not being released at this time pending notification to next of kin. The incident remains under investigation and anyone with information can contact the Henry County Sheriff’s Office.
