Plans are underway for Kewanee’s 18th annual Lighted Christmas Parade, scheduled for Sunday, Dec. 8, at 5 p.m.

“We would like to invite you to be a part of this great evening of fun,” said Mark Mikenas, executive director of the Kewanee Chamber of Commerce, which sponsors the parade.

Places of business, churches, organizations and schools are being asked to decorate a float for the parade.

Advice on how to light a float or vehicle is available from the chamber, 309-852-2175.

Santa will also be making an official visit to the parade, which will begin in the parking lot of the former Tenney Bowl at McClure and Tenney streets and proceed down McClure to Windmont Park.

“We ask that you do not use Santa and Mrs. Claus in your entry due to the fact that we will be delivering them to the park via the parade and do not want to confuse little ones by having duplicates,” Mikenas said.

A parade entry form can be found at the chamber’s website, https://kewanee-il.com/eventsubmit.php or chamber@kewanee-il.com.
