BISHOP HILL, Illinois—Crossroads Cultural Connections will present an electrifying evening of live blues music with the Dylan Doyle Band on Sunday, April 12 at Bishop Hill Creative Commons.

Southern-born and Northern-raised, Doyle has quickly emerged as one of the most compelling young artists on the American music scene. His sound blends R&B, Americana, blues, and funk into a style that is both deeply rooted and refreshingly original. Drawing inspiration from artists as diverse as Jimi Hendrix, Bill Withers, John Prine, D’Angelo, and The Band, Doyle has crafted a musical voice that resonates across genres and generations.

From humble beginnings in rural North Carolina to formative years in upstate New York, Doyle’s life experiences have shaped a songwriting style grounded in authenticity, heart and storytelling. He began performing at just 13 years old and was touring the South by age 15, including appearances at the renowned King Biscuit Blues Festival.

At just 20 years old, Doyle was inducted into the New York Blues Hall of Fame, becoming one of its youngest members ever. His career has continued to gain momentum, with performances spanning small-town venues to major stages, including a Midwest tour headlining the historic Al Ringling Theatre. Known for his dynamic live shows, Doyle can move seamlessly from soulful, lyrical passages to explosive, high-energy guitar work.

In recent years, he has expanded his musical range even further, incorporating elements of jazz and R&B through collaborations in New York City’s vibrant music scene. His sophomore album, Pleasures of the Damned, reflects this evolution—blending his Americana roots with new sonic explorations.

Doyle’s musicianship has earned praise from industry veterans, including Bill Payne of Little Feat, who noted his “flawless and inventive” playing and deep musical awareness, and tour manager Butch Dener, who remarked, “this boy has the real goods.”

Presented by Crossroads Cultural Connections, this performance continues the organization’s mission of bringing high-quality live music and cultural experiences to Henry County and surrounding communities.

The evening will begin at 6 p.m. with an optional potluck dinner, offering guests a chance to gather and connect before the performance. Attendees are welcome to bring a dish to share if they wish to participate. The concert will begin at 7 p.m.

The event is open to all ages, with a suggested donation of $20–$30, all of which goes directly to the performers, supporting artists and sustaining live music.
