Kewanee’s annual Fourth of July fireworks program will take place on Saturday, July 4, at Northeast Park.

“The fireworks will commemorate the America 250th celebration honoring 250 years of our nation’s history, resilience and spirit,” said Mark Mikenas, executive director of the Kewanee Chamber of Commerce, which sponsors the display.

“Each year our show brings people to Kewanee from the surrounding area and benefits many in the community,” Mikenas said.

This annual fireworks show has been a community driven event for many years, he said. It is funded primarily by the business community and individual donors with support from the city of Kewanee.

“Our costs have increased due to tariffs, transportation increases and inflation,”  Mikenas said. “We are seeking donations to help defray the rising cost of the show and need your help.”

Donations may be sent or dropped off at the Kewanee Chamber of Commerce office at 113 E. Second St.

“All contributors will be recognized the night of the event and in other local media,” Mikenas said.
