Two educators in the Kewanee School District have been recognized by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) for their outstanding contributions to education.
Their success was recently celebrated at the ISBE Teacher of the Year and Those Who Excel awards ceremony and banquet in Bloomington.
Amy Miler received the Award of Excellence, the highest level of recognition in the Those Who Excel and Teacher of the Year program. The Those Who Excel and Teacher of the Year program honors educators across Illinois who have made meaningful contributions to their schools and communities. The award goes to educators who have demonstrated a commitment to equity, collaboration, and student success while fostering a positive and impactful learning environment.
Alicia Ralston received the Award of Meritorious Service, recognizing her significant accomplishments and dedication to supporting student growth and strengthening school culture.
“Both educators exemplify the mission of Kewanee CUSD 229, ‘Inspire the Mind. Honor the Heart,’” said School Supt. Rebecca Baney. “Their work reflects a deep commitment to students, colleagues and the broader school community.
“We are incredibly proud of Amy and Alicia for this well-deserved recognition,” Baney said. “Their passion for students and commitment to excellence are evident in everything they do. They represent the very best of Kewanee.”
