
The Sherrard girls track team won seven events and scored 157 points en route to being the runaway winner of the 2024 TRAC conference meet Friday at Mendota.
There was a little more suspense as to which team would claim runner-up status. In a 3-way battle for second, Bureau Valley and Princeton each had 80.5 points and Kewanee was a point behind, setting for fourth among the field of 13 teams.

As has been the case all season, Sherrard dominated the relays, winning all four of them. The Tigers won the pole vault and 800 and 1600 meter races as well.
Bureau Valley and Kewanee each had two event winners. Maddie Wetzel of BV won the 3200 meter run in a time of 12:28.08 and Addison Wessel won the 300 meter hurdles in 50.01.
Danielle Jo Currier and Kolbie Cernovich of Kewanee had the one-two punch in the long jump. Currier topped the field with a leap of 16′ 1″ and Cernovich went 15′ 7″. Currier won the triple jump as well. She had a winning effort of 34′ 10.5″.
Rachel DeRycke (50.51) and Jendayia Crowe (50.58) placed second and third, respectively, in the 300 meter hurdles. DeRycke had a third place effort in the in the 100 meter hurdles as well.
Tejhiana Amos recorded two fourth place finishes for the Boiler Girls. She had a time of 28.10 in the 200 meter dash and went 4′ 9.75″ in the high jump. Crowe was fifth in the high jump, clearing 4′ 8″.
Nolie Charlet was fourth in the 800 meter run (2:38.78) and Claire Taylor placed fourth in the triple jump with a leap of 31′ 4″.
