A Colona man was arrested after he reportedly entered the Henry County Courthouse on Wednesday and displayed a pistol during the screening process, according to a press release from the Henry County Sheriff’s Department.
James M. Demink, 61, was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, a class 4 felony.
The incident occurred around 8:18 am. Demink appeared to be in emotional distress when he entered the courthouse and initially ignored verbal commands by deputies, the release stated.
The Henry County Courthouse was placed on lockdown while the man was contained and de-escalation tactics were used.
After a short time, the man complied with the deputies and was taken into custody without further incident. The firearm was recovered at the scene.
Demink is currently being held at the Henry County Jail to await an initial court appearance.
