
Kewanee Central School eighth grader Ace LaFollette won the 155-lb bracket Saturday at the IESA State Wrestling Meet in DeKalb.
The state champion, his teammates and coaches received a police car and fire truck escort when they returned from the tournament.
The state wrestling meet was held at the Convocation Center on the campus of Northern Illinois University in DeKalb.
Also qualifying for the state meet were Lain Taylor, Jermain McKnight and Eli Dennison (all 8th grade), Ryan Conway (7th grade) and Jayden Logsdon (5th grade).
Alternates were Cruz Cortez and Carter Swearingen.
The elementary school program consists of wrestlers in fifth through eighth grades.
