The Annawan Bravettes are a perfect 3-0 heading into the championship game of the Lady Bruin Christmas Classic in Peru. The Bravettes will face Serena (13-1) Thursday at 4 pm.

Serena is also 3-0 in tourney play and its path to the championship game came by beating Fieldcrest (42-33), Putnam County (36-21) and Kewanee (53-32).

Annawan had wins over Sandwich (65-25), Newark (57-36) and host St. Bede (66-52).

Newark

The Bravettes got off to a slow start against Newark, falling behind 13-9 in the first quarter. Annawan, however, took control in the second quarter and outscored the Norsemen 24-7 in the frame and held a 33-20 lead at the half.

Clara Bella VanOpdorp scored 12 points in the second quarter for the Bravettes and 16 in the first half. Olivia Goodley added 10 first half points.

Addison Lang put in eight first quarter points for Newark and she had 10 in the first half.

Annawan outscored Newark 24-16 in the final two quarters to secure the win. Zoey Vance racked up nine third quarter points (11 in the second half) and Goodley tacked on nine more points in the second half to close out the game.

Goodley led all scorers with 19 points, VanOpdorp added 16 and Vance finished with an even dozen. Lange led Newark with 16 points.

Annawan moves to 13-3 on the season and Newark falls to 6-7.
