After scoring a total of 23 first half points and holding a narrow 23-19 at the break, the host Annawan Bravettes regrouped and scored 24 points in the third quarter to beat Brimfield going away, 60-41.

“We’ve been a little out of sorts, offensively, the past couple of games so I had to get their attention at halftime,” said Annawan Coach Jason Burkiewicz. “We finally got back to playing to our capabilities with a 24-point third quarter,” he added.

During the Saturday non-conference match up, Annawan led 11-10 after one quarter of play. Zoey Vance scored six of the 11 points. 

In the pivotal third quarter, Olivia Goodley made three 3-pointers and had 10 total points and Kaylee Celus added six in the frame. After scoring 24 in the quarter, the Bravettes extended their lead, 47-32.

Ava Heinz scored 10 of Brimfield’s 13 third quarter points and she led all scorers with 18 points. Kennedy Hoerr hit four treys for the Indians, totaling 12 points for the game.

Four Annawan players scored in double figures. Goodley had 17, Vance 16, Clara Bella VanOpdorp scored 15 and Celus tallied 10 in the win. 

The Bravettes improve to 7-1 on the season and 1-0 in LTC play. Brimfield is now 5-3 and 1-0 in the Prairieland Conference.
