The Flying Geese and the Braves played a near even game for three quarters Wednesday night, but Annawan played an inspired fourth quarter and pulled out a 54-36 conference win at the Southside gym. 

The Braves jumped out to an 18-5 first quarter lead over the Geese, but Wethersfield returned the favor in the second frame by outscoring Annawan 14-2. The result was a 20-19 halftime lead for the Braves. 

Brady Heitzler and Gabe Sims led Annawan with six first half points apiece. Landon Sauer scored seven first half points for Wethersfield. 

Each team put up 10 points in the third frame as Annawan held a slim 30-29 lead with one quarter left to play. Sauer scored six of Wethersfield’s 10 third quarter points. 

The Braves erupted for a 24-7 fourth quarter and went on to win the LTC matchup by a score of 54-36.

Brody Childs and Brady Heitzler led the Annawan charge with six points each in the final quarter. Tommy Covington added five. 

Sauer topped all scorers with 19 points. Castin Rash chipped in with six points for Wethersfield.

Sims and Brady Heitzler each scored a dozen for the Braves, while Covington and Childs added nine and eight points, respectively. 

The Braves move to 14-2 overall and 2-0 in the Lincoln Trail Conference. The Geese are 5-10 and 1-1 in LTC play.
