
During the past week, the Kewanee boys track and field team won the 9-team Pam Foley Memorial Invitational in Galva and had a second place finish among the 13 teams at the TRAC conference meet on Friday at Rockridge High School.
The Boilermakers scored 140 points en route to winning the Pam Foley Invite. At the conference meet, .5 seconds was the difference between Kewanee winning the TRAC title and finishing second to Bureau Valley.
Heading into the final race of the evening, Kewanee and BV were tied for first place. The Storm won the last race by .5 seconds to claim the hotly-contested TRAC conference title by one point (81-80).

Individual conference champions for the Boilers were Anthony Padilla who swept the 110 and 300 meter hurdles events, Dontaveon Thomas in the triple jump and JJ Roginski in the high jump.
Padilla won the 110 hurdles in 15.77 and the 300 in a time of 42.16. Thomas had a winning leap of 42′ 0 in the triple jump and Roginski cleared 6’0 to win the high jump. Thomas provided the one-two punch for Kewanee, also clearing 6’0.
Leocadio Gandarilla had a fourth place finish in the shot put with a distance of 48′ 9.5″. The 4×400 relay also finished fourth. Members of the team are Padilla, Davontae Jordan, Prestin Stabler and Roginski.
The 4×200 and 4×800 relays each had fifth place finishes. The 4×200 is made up of Padilla, Tyson Currie, Tre Amos and Davontae Jordan. Members of the 4×800 team are Michael Bermudez, Chance DeSplinter, Jack Coombs and Hunter Vancil.

Kewanee won six events to secure the title win. Anthony Padilla once again swept the hurdles events. He had a time of 15.86 in the 110 meter hurdles and 42.60 in the 300 hurdles.
Dontaveon Thomas was also a dual event winner. He won the long jump with a leap of 19′ 11.75″ and the triple jump, going 42′ 0.25″. Tre Amos was second in the long jump (19′ 2.75″).
The 4×200 relay team was second in a time of 1:35.11. Members of the team are Amos, Tyson Currie, Davontae Jordan and Anthony Padilla.

Leocadio Gandarilla topped the field in the shot put with a distance of 48′ 9″ and Daniel Boswell was fourth (42′ 1.75″). Gandarilla also placed third in the discus (135′ 1.25″).
JJ Roginski had a first place effort of 6′ 2.75″ in the high jump and Dontaveon Thomas was third, clearing 5′ 10.75″. Roginski also had a third place finish in the 400 meter run with a time of 54.33.
The 4×400 (3:42.08) and 4×800 (9:11.81) each placed third. The 4×400 team is made up of Jack Coombs, JJ Roginski, Anthony Padilla and Davontae Jordan. Members of the 4×800 team are Michael Bermudez, Chance DeSplinter, Jason Rusk and Jack Coombs.
The Boilers also had five fifth pace finishes on the night: Tre Amos in the 200 meter dash; Michael Bermudez in the 800 meter run; Jason Rusk in the 3200 run; Jesus Del Toro in the 300 hurdles; and the 4×100 relay (Amos, Jordan, Thomas and Currie).
