Kewanee High School’s boys varsity team ended their regular season with a home loss to conference rival Mendota.

The visitors took a commanding lead early in the game, running out to a 29-10 lead by the end of the first quarter.

The lead grew in the second quarter, as the Trojans led 53-15 at halftime.

Kewanee shaved a little off the deficit in the second half, but it wasn’t enough, as they finished on the wrong end of a 74-42 score.

Jesus Martinez was the only Kewanee player in double figures, with 10. Chris Crowe and Adiel Arjon each had 7 and Griffin Hicks scored 6.

The Boilers ended up with an overall record of 15-16 and a 4-6 record in the conference.

Mendota finished the regular season at 26-5, and 9-1 in the conference.

The Riveters fared a little better, but still came up on the short end of a 43-36 score. Alex Ramos’s 10 points led the Riveters, who finished at 15-15 and 6-4 in the  conference.
