
KHS soccer team plays Abingdon to a tie
Kewanee and Abingdon played to a tie in soccer Thursday at Kewanee Stadium.
“Another hard game that the Boilermakers had against Abingdon,” Coach Jesus Bermudez said. “Abingdon had very fast players, but Kewanee knew how to control them.
“The home team had a couple of players injured so we had to use our subs, which did awesome,” Bermudez said.

Abingdon scored first when Kewanee looked like they had control of the game.
“Kewanee started playing harder, they were not taking another loss,” Bermudez said.
At minute 38 of second half Isidro Martinez had a great kick that left Abingdon’s goalie with no chance to react, the coach said. Alonso Corral had an assist on the goal.
The game ended in a tie, 1-1.

18 saves Dillon Price.
Kewanee’s JV team won 1-0. The only goal was made by Daniel Copeland.
Charlet, Rusk lead the field in cross country event
Kewanee’s Nolie Charlet and Jason Rusk were the winners in a triangular cross country match at Rockridge Thursday against the home school and Orion.
Charlet ran the three-mile course in 22:08.36, beating the second-place runner from Rockridge by more than a minute.
And Rusk, Kewanee’s only entry in the boys race, had the winning time of 18:44.77.
Esmerelda and Alejandra Martinez placed fourth and fifth for Kewanee with times of 24:37.77 and 25:10.11 respectively.
Tiffany Helton’s time of 34:33.11 put her in 15th place.
With only one runner for the boys and four for the girls, no team score was kept for Kewanee.
Varsity volleyball beats Princeton, improves to 1-1 in conference
Kewanee’s volleyball team improved to 1-1 in conference with a win over Princeton 19-25, 25-15, 25-21.

Peru St. Bede topped Kewanee in tennis, 4-1.
