Diaz finished with 22 pts and 10 rebounds.

Tejhiana Amos finished with 13 points (nine in the fourth quarter).

The girls travel to Wyoming to play Stark County on Saturday.

It was also a great night for the junior varsity team, which won 43-28. Bailey Van Winkle led Kewanee with 14 points, including two three-pointers. Not far behind was Annie Campbell with 11; five of those baskets were layups.

“Everyone on the team had quality minutes and contributed in a positive way with some sort of stat, whether it was scoring, rebounds, steals or assists,” said Coach Jacqueline Clucas.

“Our best quarter was the third,” Clucas said. “After going into halftime only up by one point, 17-16, we outscored E/P 16-4, which put us in a good position to see the win through. Overall, the girls deserve all the credit for coming together when the game got tough.”

The next game will be an away game Saturday at Stark County.
