The Kewanee Boiler Girls softball team easily dispatched the Newman Central Catholic Varsity Comets on Monday, 11-1.

Newman got their run in the first inning when the Comets’ shortstop hit a solo home run to right field.

Kewanee took the lead in the bottom of the second thanks to hits by Addy Yepsen and Lyric Duytschayver and a sacrifice bunt from Audrey Clucas. Yepsen was able to cross the plate later in the inning.

A leadoff walk by Remy Hicks, and singles by Macee Pickering, Rylee Blades, Kieryn Abernathy and Duytschayver helped Kewanee extend their lead in the third, 6-1.
