Kewanee’s girls’ basketball team faced off against the familiar Galva Wildcats Wednesday. The girls had a stellar performance as the game ended early due to Kewanee’s large lead.

In the first quarter, sophomore Damaris Diaz started the Boilers’ scoring spree.

Four of the girls were able to land shots to extend their lead. Senior Mya Dearing had seven points and Diaz added eight to the score.

Additionally, sophomore Bailey VanWinkle had a three-pointer and a layup. Senior Tejhiana Amos finished the first quarter scoring with shots, totaling four points.

Kewanee overwhelmed Galva as they finished the first quarter 24-5.

The second quarter had a similar story. The girls totaled 18 more points. Audrey Clucas splashed a three and Diaz added six to her total. The half finished at 42-9.

Because of the nearing holiday season, the halftime entertainment was different than normal. The Competitive Dance team performed their routine and the Boilermaker Pep Band finished with their rendition of “All I Want For Christmas is You” by Mariah Carey.
