Kewanee High School’s Boiler Girls hosted a close game against the Princeton Lady Tigers on Thursday. The action ultimately ended 44-48 in the visitors’ favor.

Kewanee was leading at the start of the night. The score at the half had the Lady Boilers up 23-21. The third quarter came to a close with a similar 34-32 advantage for the home team. 

However, Princeton came through with a whopping 16 points in the final quarter, putting them in the lead by the end of the conference showdown.

Junior Damaris Diaz Favela led KHS with 16 points, with junior Audrey Clucas close behind with 14 points.

The Lady Tigers’ top scorers included senior Keighley Davis with an impressive 26 points and sophomore Payton Brandt with 17 points.

The Boiler Girls face the Lady Rocks on Saturday and the Lady Bruins on Monday, weather permitting. Their next action in Brockman Gym will see them challenge the Newman Lady Comets on Feb. 5.
