
The Kewanee Boiler Girls recorded a 50-26 win over the Sandwich Indians Thursday at the Lady Bruin Christmas Classic.
Kewanee set the tone early by surging ahead to a 21-2 first quarter lead. Tejhiana Amos scored nine points in the opening quarter and Bailey VanWinkle added five for the Boiler Girls.
Kewanee continued to roll in the second quarter by outscoring the Indians 17-7. Mya Dearing, Avery Yepsen and Hannah Tiska all made threes in the frame as Kewanee held a 38-9 halftime lead. Damaris Diaz added six points in the first half.
The Boiler Girls also outscored Sandwich 12-4 in the third quarter with the lead then extended to 50-13. The running clock was applied early on the third period.
Amos was the high scorer with 15 points and Diaz had 10 in the win.
