An author who took part in Kewanee’s Pride Festival earlier this month will give a speech Tuesday at the Galesburg Public Library.

Joe Chianakas, author of “Singlets and Secrets,” signed copies of his book at the Pride Fest in Kewanee. He will speak at the library in Galesburg from 6-7 p.m. Tuesday.

This free event promises an intimate glimpse into the personal stories that inspired Chianakas’ novel.

“Friends and allies of the LGBTQ community will gain fresh, insightful perspectives on growing up and thriving as a queer individual,” Chianakas said.

His work has earned significant acclaim. Jon Hurwitz, co-creator of the series “Cobra Kai” and for “Harold and Kumar” and “American Pie Reunion,” praised “Singlets and Secrets” as “equal parts fresh, heartfelt, entertaining and important.”

His appearance in Galesburg will feature a preview of his sequel, “Pride and Persistence” — which aims to unite members and allies of the LGBTQ community, tackling pressing issues facing the transgender community and offering a profound journey of self-discovery and resilience.

Chianakas will also be at Wordsmith Bookshoppe in Galesburg for a book signing from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, June 22.

Revies of “Singlets and Secrets” can be found on Amazon and Goodreads.
