Over the weekend, the Bishop Hill Heritage Association held its 51st Jordbruksdagarna (Swedish for “earth work days”) with activities all over the village.
To welcome fall, Bishop Hill celebrated Jordbruksdagarna, the coming of the harvest season. In the town park, artisans of all kinds showed off their skills of woodworking, leather crafting and sewing, and held demonstrations for the crowd.

Musicians and the Nordic Dancers performed at the park gazebo, and activities for the kids included brick making, corn shelling, making fresh apple cider, and putting together corn husk dolls. The Old Settlers’ Association also served their Colony Stew for attendees to enjoy.

Bishop Hill will have more activities coming up this autumn including “Ghost Stories Around the Bonfire” on Oct. 7, and the “Bishop Hill Pottery Festival” on Oct. 14.
