Sale Haven, located at 542 Tenney St., is the second Kewanee business this week to announce its permanent closing.
On Wednesday, employees from the Goodwill store got the bad news that the company will be closing down its Kewanee location on March 8.
On Thursday, the owner of Sale Haven, Andrea DeReu, announced on the Sale Haven Facebook page, that “after careful consideration and exploration of all available options, we regret to inform you that Sale Haven will be closing its doors permanently after this weekend.”

The post goes on to say that the family and team is saddened to bring the chapter to a close and that they “are incredibly proud of the accomplishments and milestones” they have achieved over the past five years.
“We have been fortunate enough to make a positive impact in our community through charitable donations, sponsorship and supporting those in need,” the post said
The liquidation business first opened as a Halloween pop-up store, and purchased items from retail outlets such as Target and Amazon to resell at affordable prices. The pop-up store was phase one for the business, which expanded to general merchandise including clothing, toys and home decor.
“Unfortunately, despite our best efforts, we have faced significant challenges in maintaining a sustainable business model,” the post read.
“Those of you who know me and my family personally know that we have consistently strived to provide affordable and trendy merchandise, but the current market conditions have made it impossible for us to continue operating viably.”
DeReu said as they move forward, they are excited to dedicate their time and energy to the family and growing other business ventures.
The store will be open throughout the weekend and the public is invited to stop in and visit and share well-wishes.
“Thank you again for your unwavering support,” the post said.
