The Annawan-Wethersfield girls junior high softball team will be playing for a state championship.

The girls defeated Farmington Tuesday at the Glasford Sectional to quality for state.

They’ll play Robinson at 10 a.m. Friday in Normal in the quarterfinals of the tournament.

Team members from Annawan are eighth graders Lyla McCauley, Kinley Rico and Abi Steele; and seventh graders Iyla Anderson, Gwen Grimes, Chloe Kidd, Kylie Klockenga, Anna Nordstrom and Alivia VanUnnik.

From Wethersfield, players are eighth graders Karlee Branom, Bailey Case, Abby Hampton, Emma Jackson, Olivia Shipley and Kelsey Wisniewski; and seventh graders Piper Achuff, Adlyn Brown, Brittyn Jackson-Carreau, Addison Ingle, Scarlett Morey, Ivy Ouart, Carston Rodgers, London Russell, Alizabeth Segura, Izabella Silva and Addison Talbot.
