Kewanee High School’s culinary arts program is cooking up success. Fifty-two students from Tom Campbell’s Introduction to Foods and Nutrition class recently completed a valuable one-week course with the Health Department of Henry and Stark Counties. 

Also earning certification were, from left, Christopher San Pedro Isidoro, Bailey Elgin, Jayden Klein, Alexis Welch, Giavonna Garms, Lyla Fink, Alexis Fosu, Lillian Lee, Marlee Bates, Dayomie Garcia Tirado, David Cortes, Jermaine McKnight, Tyshan Lasenby, Kiahna Camp, Kayleigh Wear, Shane Shamblin.

The cost of certification was paid for by the McDonald’s in Kewanee.

This intensive training culminated in all 52 students earning their official Food Handler Certification. This certification is a crucial credential for anyone looking to work in food establishments across Illinois, validating their understanding of essential food safety practices.
